Bally Chohan update on Search Engine Marketing
March 8th, 2010
Bally Chohan estimates that spending specifically on paid search in the UK will amount to £2.42 billion in 2008, equivalent to just over 88% of the total spent on Search Engine Marketing. This represents a 23% increase on the previous year, when paid search was worth £1.97 billion.
The market for Search Engine Optimisation will be worth £330 million by the end of 2008, up 32% from just over £250 million in 2007. Our estimate for SEO includes payments to agencies, as well as investment in client-side staff to manage SEO and implement changes.
Spending on SEO services will represent just under 12% of the overall market for search in 2008, an increase of 1% from 2007.
Although the size of the SEO market is still dwarfed by PPC spending, marketers realise the importance and value of organic listings and are continuing to redress the balance in terms of the amount they are investing.
